As a department head, managed a budget [>£1m] for running the shared electronic document management service [DM Service]. Many years involved with staff/line management such as recruitment, retention, development…, organisational design and structure and the many associated activities of running a service that was in demand from current users to potential future customers. As a senior IT Manager have been involved with Strategy Management and co-developing and aligning IT strategies with business strategies
Consulted and spent time helping business [and IT] to understand benefits, technical capabilities and how they could be applied to business processes and how both a future system and business process would need to evolve together. Made many presentations on the DM service - what it is and what it does to stakeholders from senior management to potential business users. Helped to develop business cases, core business requirements and to scope potential projects or programmes. Supported the project approval process
Complex stakeholder management and working with business units with significant differences in working practices, needs and expectations between themselves but also within them. This complex set of stakeholders required help in understanding potential business benefits and how Documentum technology might help improve or transform their business processes. I also spent a great deal of time in helping to define business cases and business requirements through various techniques such as interviews, workshops and review processes. I also helped to develop initial plans, budgets, communications and presentations to allow business units to obtain formal approval via their management to proceed to full programmes or projects. During project execution I often chaired the senior meetings and helped to provide strong governance, education and an ability to resolve issues
